Economic forecasters may be predicting a Greek tragedy for UK PLC but try telling that to the customers who shop at specialist retailer Sports Direct, which has just announced that trading over Christmas has beaten expectations. Led by colourful entrepreneur Mike Ashley, Sports Direct has weathered the recession better than most with third quarter sales to 10 February rising 9.4%, while group gross profit increased an impressive 11.5%.
