A strong update from gold miner Avocet with Q4 production increasing from 67,800 oz to 70,900 oz, while year-end production rose 115% to 236,000 oz, which beat its own guidance of 220,000 oz by 7.5%. Importantly, its flagship Inata mine in Burkina Faso increased production 14% to 46,200 oz over Q3 with cash costs dropping from US$526 / oz to US$511, helped by higher head grade than forecast of 2.68 g/t. Since then Avocet has announced encouraging drilling results at Inata with two northern extensions showing the resource extends along strike and at depth and further results will be unveiled in coming months.
