Carphone has yet again raised its guidance for its profit share in Best Buy Mobile US and now expects earnings to be at the top end of the 13.5p-14p range it gave last November. Best Buy Mobile's Q3 connections grew 33.6% (versus broker expectations of 25%) driven partly through the shift in consumer demand towards smart phones (intelligent hand-held devices) and also the roll-out of its standalone stores of which there are now 158. It also has 1,099 stores within a Best Buy store. Elsewhere, Carphone Warehouse Europe grew like-for-like sales by 0.7%, reflecting strong smart phone sales in the post-pay segment, more than offsetting a decline in prepay connections.
