One of the most lucrative sectors to invest in right now is palm oil, with prices now more than triple their credit crunch lows and closing in on the all-time high set in the summer of 2008. For Indonesian-based producer, REA Holdings, the added attraction is that it is also in the middle of a rapid expansion program, which has seen production increase from around 50,000 tonnes of crude palm oil (CPO) in 2002 to 127,200 tonnes last year. But this could be just the beginning with management aiming to increase its planted up area from 32,000 hectares to nearly 40,000 over the next 12 months, while its huge land bank provides the capacity to eventually double even that.
