Carphone Warehouse - 172p special dividend

In its Q3 update Carphone reiterated that it will meet full year expectations. Like-for-like revenue was down 4.7%, with total sales down 16.6%. More encouraging is that the rollout of the Wireless World stores is on track, with 294 trading at the period end. Virgin Mobile France (CPW: 47% stake) continues to attract quality customers, with postpay customers now 70% of the total. This drove Q3 revenue up 15%, to Eu. 109m. Elsewhere, Best Buy UK has seen all 11 stores closed down. Carphone has now gone ex the 172p a share special dividend from the sale of Best Buy Mobile US, which taken with the current price of 169p, makes for a gain on our main recommendation at 191p in June â€˜10, of 79%.
