Weir has acquired Novatech, a US manufacturer of well service pump valves and pump seats for upstream oil & gas applications for US$176m. The purchase is being funded through existing bank facilities.  Dallas-based Novatech's valves are used for high pressure applications such as frac, cement and mud pumps used in the so-called unconventional US oil & gas industry, thus enhancing Weir's position in this fast growing market. In its most recent year to 30 September 2011 it achieved revenues and EBITDA of US$61.6m and US$25.2m respectively, representing 88% revenue growth over 2010, while 90% of revenues are from the higher margin aftermarket.
