Abcam, an online retailer of antibodies has announced a blow-out 28% increase in sales for the six months to December. This performance was admittedly boosted by two acquisitions but underlying organic growth was still 12%. As at 31 December its catalogue comprised 102,288 products, a 25% increase over 2011. One problem for Abcam is that its key US market has been affected by uncertainty surrounding the US Government budget discussions, which could affect funding for its academic customers. This may explain why the shares fell through our 360p stop-loss in November, but the gain on our tip at 243p in May 2010 was still 64%. ...
