When we recommended North Sea oil & gas producer Enquest last August the odds were firmly in favour of a further rise in oil prices on the back of an expected cut-back in Iraqi production due to the ISIL insurgency. But as we now know it didn’t pan out that way as economic slow-down in China and Europe, followed by a shock decision by Saudi Arabia to persuade OPEC to leave production unchanged, has caused Brent crude to crash from US$115 to US$45 / barrel.
