AIM-listed 5-a-side football operator, Goals Soccer Centres, was a barnstorming performer in the previous decade with the shares soaring from 62p in ‘05 to an unlikely peak of 440p in ’07. But while over expansion and a nasty recession caused the shares to rattle back to 90p they have again found a new lease of life, helped by a debt restructuring and share placing, which provided the means to grow again. More excitingly, finance director, Bill Gow, who we spoke with during the month, notes that opening costs have also been significantly reduced, leading to better returns on capital.Goals is one of the largest five a side football operators in the UK with 44 outlets commanding a 42% market share and it hosts over 100,00 ...
