Meat processor Cranswick pleased investors again, noting trading was slightly ahead of expectations. Both total and like-for-like revenue were ahead of the prior year and each category delivered positive volume growth underpinned by a strong performance over Christmas. This was achieved with the backdrop of UK pig prices continuing to ease and ending the quarter at the same level as a year earlier.Investment continued at record levels adding new capacity and delivering further operational efficiencies. Construction of its new Continental Products facility at Bury, Lancashire, is well advanced with completion expected in H1 of the next financial year and will lift capacity by 70%.
