One company making a mint out of the seemingly endless construction boom is Speedy Hire, the UK's largest operator of tool hire products, such as electrical drills, access towers and cement mixers.  That business may sound rather mundane but Speedy's performance has been anything but, with its operating profit  growing more than ten-fold in the last ten years, mirroring an equally dramatic expansionin the number of hire outlets from 40 to 279.    Overthe month, we caught up with chief executive, John Brown, who was in good cheer following Speedy's very positive trading statement ahead ofits year-end.
