Synergy Healthcare - In the running for more PFI contracts

The shares went to an all-time high following a confident statement which noted that trading in the second half of the year ending March had beaten management's expectations. Broker, Brewin Dolphin, respondedby upgrading pretax profit forecasts 4% to £4m (11.8p eps) and 8% to £4.8m (14.1p eps) for the current year. The surgical side (60% sales) is benefiting from new contract starts and from the government's recent introduction of Independent Sector Treatment Centres (ISTC),  a new government initiative to reduce patient waiting times.  Synergy is also in talks regarding another 4-5 PFI schemes, although the selection of the preferred bidder for the Leeds/Bradford Pathfinder contract (in which Synergy is one of ...
