YouGov's spat with London Mayor Ken Livingstone, which followed an unfavourable PR-election poll, has brought it more publicity than it could possibly have hoped for in its wildest dreams. However, its online polling business is now just a figurehead and only contributes a small proportion of revenues.  YouGov's main business is the provision of online market research and following the three large acquisitions it made last year, this side has driven a spectacular trebling in sales to £18.8m in the six months to 31 January. Pretax profit increased 87% to £4.3m, while eps rose sharply from 2.7p to 4.3p, as much of its business is conducted in the lowly taxed Middle East, although its recent expansion into less favourable tax ...
