Having shocked investors last autumn by announcing that it had suspended outbound marketing activity due to mis-selling, the newsflow has continued to worsen. In particular it will now take a £20m one-off charge for full year to March 2012 (double its initial estimate) to cover the resulting reorganisation and redundancy costs, which will save £5m from 2013 onwards.This will go some way to offsetting the negative effects, with its pre-close update on 29 March noting that the UK has seen policy renewals fall from 82.7% to an expected 80%, while customer numbers will reduce by 9%.
