One sure-fire sign that consumer confidence is heating up is that new car sales have increased for the 37th consecutive month to March 2015, the longest unbroken run since records began. One company that has availed of this helpful tail-wind is Marshall Motor Holdings, the only UK car dealer to represent all top five prestige vehicle manufacturers as well as the top ten by volume. The shares, which were introduced by Investec to AIM on 2 April at 149p in a placing that raised almost £37m net new money, have quickly risen to 171p valuing Marshall Motors at £136m.The company is controlled by MCHL, a long-standing private group led by three generations of the Marshall family, which owns a controlling 65.2% interest.
