Having been weak ahead of the Budget the shares recovered after One Savings produced strong results with net interest income increasing 36% to almost £170m and pretax profit rising 52% to almost £106m. Eps increased 43% to 34.8p.Total loans jumped 31% to £5.1bn, driven by gross new loan origination of £1.8bn (2014: £1.5bn) and a purchase of a £260m second charge mortgage portfolio. The key cost:income ratio improved from 28% to 26% while net interest margin (the difference between income from borrowers and its own funding costs) improved 0.18% to 3.09% reflecting higher lending volumes plus cheaper cost of funds helped by use of Government’s Funding for Lending Scheme.
