Charter Court is a nifty IPO we alighted on at 234p last December, with the gain topping £1 a share at one point. The company, a specialist in buy-to-let (BTL) mortgages for professional landlords through its Precise Mortgages brand, released maiden results ahead of forecasts with second half pretax profit of £52.5m (Investec forecast: £49.9m) resulting in full year profit up 123% to £109.1m. The loan book grew 42% to £5.4bn, while it delivered a BTL net loan growth of a barnstorming £4.5bn (+524%!) in 3 years.Net interest margin (difference between what it costs to borrow and lend to customers) improved from 3.08% to 3.19%, helped by a fall in cost of funds.
