Following a continuation of surging production levels and record energy prices, the North Sea focused Venture Production has again produced a record set of results. For the six months to 30 June, turnover increased 230% to £185m, leading to a pretax profit of £98m. Operating cashflow was also strong at £155m, which left net debt at £121m, although this excludes its recent acquisition of CH4 for £153m. The twin drivers were an 80% increase in average production to 43,572 barrels oil equivalent per day (boepd) and an 87% rise in average selling prices to £26.33 / boe, of which 67% was gas and the balance oil.
