The acquisition of a near 3% stake in recent TMI portfolio additionCarphone Warehouse by Best Buy, the largest US consumer electronicschain, has set the cat among the pigeons and sent the shares backtowards all time highs. Some analysts suggest it could be a prelude toa full bid by Best Buy and at worst it represents a clear vote ofconfidence in Carphone. The purchase follows last year’s formation of ajoint venture between the firms under which they agreed to open 150 to200 mobile retail stores in the US and mostly within existing Best Buyoutlets.
