In a pre-close update for the year to 30 September, care home firmSouthern Cross noted that results will be at least in line withexpectations, with strong continuing growth anticipated. Underlyingoccupancy has risen from 91.6% to 92.3%, while adding in the new bedsacquired this rate falls to 91.0%. Alongside this, the company has soldand leased back 15 freehold care homes, acquired with the Averypurchase, for £95.5m.  Southern Cross also announced that chiefexecutive Philip Scott is stepping down to pursue personal interestsand will be replaced by non-executive chairman Bill Colvin, the formerCEO of care home firm NHP.
