First quarter results from Goodwin have confirmed that its strong trading momentum has continued. The firm, which makes check valves for the oil & gas industry as well as machine castings to make power stations more efficient, saw Q1 pretax profit increase 21% to £2.45m over the same period in 2007 on turnover that rose 24% to £21.9m.  Chairman John Goodwin also noted that the group's order book remains buoyant while there is an opportunity to achieve an improvement in performance over last year.  With Goodwin's end markets remaining buoyant the shares look set to make further headway.
