Helped by a cautious approach to its business, such as locking in forward coal sales on fixed price contracts and fixing many of its key costs to inflation, Hargreaves has not been affected by the turmoil in the markets. As a result its final results beat expectations, leading to brokers upgrading their forecasts.For the year to 31 May revenue rose 69% to £405m while pretax profit increased 86% to £19m Eps increased 77% to 51p. Net debt fell from £57m at the half year to £46.2m. Hargreaves' single biggest area of activity by profits are its “production assets,” which comprise Maltby Colliery and Monckton Coke Works.
