IG Group - Large eps enhancing acquisition underpins forecasts

Financial spread betting firm IG has unveiled a strong trading update with group revenue increasing 29% to £53m in the first quarter. Operating costs were in line with expectations while client recruitment levels have remained strong with the number of spread betting and CFD accounts opened being 45% higher. Meanwhile the group's newer businesses in France, Spain the USA and Germany have continued to experience rapid revenue growth and non-UK revenues now represent 30% of the group. IG also noted that the ban on short selling banking stocks imposed by the FSA will have a negligible impact given that clients are “long†in 90% of individual shares.
