For years, analysts have been predicting the end of the North Sea as a major oil producing block given that all the large, easy to reach discoveries have been exhausted while the cost of accessing what's left has rocketed. However, the industry is nothing if not resilient and while Big Oil has exited this region, its place has been taken by some ambitious second liners, who have used improved technology to make some impressive new discoveries.
