Petropavlovsk - Rising gold price should trigger major eps upgrades

Helped by another gold price surge to a new high of US$1,360 an ounce, the gold sector has been set alight by some extraordinary gains in recent weeks. This has been helped by expectations that the US Federal Reserve will restart its money printing program and the smart money is on prices reaching US$1,500 in fairly short order. Meanwhile, Petropavlovsk, an old favourite to TMI, which has built up a substantial portfolio of gold reserves in Russia, has been ignored by investors on account of a rough first half in which a combination of bad weather, production problems and heavy investment led to a sharp fall in profits.
