Despite the nervous market, shares in gas, electricity and telephony distributor Telecom Plus hit a new high of 733p after a strong Q2 update noting that customer numbers have increased at an annualised rate of 15% and service numbers by 20%. The average number of services taken by each member has also continued to rise, with those taking at least four services almost doubling to 40% since the year-end. Notwithstanding initial set-up costs, this should push up margins and further reduce customer churn. With the difficult economy making self-employment a better option, Telecom Plus has continued to grow distributor numbers, with more than 1,000 signing up during each of the last six months.
