Shares in Barratt Developments, a “buy†recommendation from our UK House Builders article in March, have performed extremely well, rising to a new high of 189p. This follows excellent results for the year to 30 June, which showed revenues rising 14% to £2.3bn, while pretax profit increased 159% to almost £111m, as operating margin soared from 6.6% to 8.2%. Eps jumped from 2.3p to 8.1p, while net debt almost halved to £167m. NAV rose from 211p to 213p. Growth came through a combination of an increase in housing completions to 12,637 units (2011: 11,078) and higher average selling prices of £180,500 (2011: £178,300). Broker Credit Suisse has upgraded eps forecasts 6% for this year and next to 13.3p and 19.6p. < ...
