Easyjet - Low cost airline still taking market share from flag carriers

It’s hard to exaggerate the impact that budget airlines have had within air travel and latest figures show that low cost carrier (LCC) capacity has tripled to just over 30m seats over the past decade, taking a significant bite out of full service “flag” carriers such as IAG, Air France / KLM and Lufthansa. Riding the crest of this wave has been Easyjet, which between 2004-2013 has increased pretax profit from £62.2m to £478m while eps has risen almost 1000% from 10.2p to 100p in spite of various curve balls such as the credit crunch, fears of Euro break-up and an oil price spike.
