Smart Metering Systems, which was established to improve efficiencies in the UK gas supply chain, continues to go from strength to strength with interims showing revenues, pretax profit and eps rising 44%, 39% and 23% to £18.9m, £4.6m and 4p respectively.The original gas infrastructure business, which installs the meter and connecting pipeline infrastructure for gas suppliers such as BP and Gazprom, increased sales 32% to £9.5m while gross profit jumped 34% to £4.4m.However, the blow-out performance came from the meter asset management side, which manages non-core activities for energy suppliers such as providing invoices for gas meter rental, replacing gas meters when they are too old or faulty and ma ...
