Budget greetings card seller Card Factory is turning into one of the top new issues of 2014 and the shares have already run from the 225p float price to the current 370p. Our recommendation was at 268.5p in January. Much of the re-rating reflects investors waking up to its tremendous cash generation and the highlight of its interims for the six months ended 31 July was the declaration of a special dividend of 15p-a-share (£51.1m). This followed a £200m debt refinancing, which reduced interest costs and gave it significant headroom on net debt, which fell from £144.2m to £108m.Revenues and pretax profit rose 8% and 72% respectively to £161.4m and £25.7m, while eps leapt 46% to 6p.
