The support services sector has been under the cosh due to problems particularly at Mitie, which is focused on low skilled services like mainstream cleaning and security where competition is fierce and operating margins are only c. 5%. MITIE has also taken a multi million pound hit from the national minimum wage and cited a slow-down in local Government business.
