In a first half update Stobart said passenger numbers at Southend airport have increased by 42%, driven by the start of Ryanair flights in April, Loganair in May plus the continued success of Easyjet. Demand was also stoked by the introduction of early and late rail services between London Liverpool Street and Southend Airport. Not a bad performance, given the industry turmoil enveloping Thomas Cook and various airlines.From October Wizzair will start flying from Southend Airport to three new destinations.
