Edible sausage casings manufacturer, Devro, announced interim results for the six months ended 30 June amd pretax profit lifted salesto £71m and £8.7 respectively. Earnings rose a sharper 6% to 3.9p, reflecting a lower tax charge.  Net debt decreased £2.8m to £31.5m, compared to a year ago, and this will fall further with the group still waiting for the £7.3m proceeds from its land sale.   Devro'spedestrian profit performance masks a period of excellent volumegrowth, which was 7% overall and 8% in edible collagen casings. Geographically, the best performances came from the Americas (+14%)and Europe (+6%) with analysts noting that the 5% growth in the UK andIreland is the strongest for some years.  Ho ...
