Not many small companies can lay claim to growing their pretax profit and earnings eighteen-fold over the past nine years, but that is exactly what Mears, a provider of repairs and maintenance services to the social housing sector, has achieved. And while the natural inclination is to believe that it’s too late to join this party, we think that view is way too premature. Mears still enjoys a fantastic demand profile for its services thanks to the unprecedented amount of government money being directed towards improving social housing, which is illustrated by the fact that its order book has surged by £220m to a record £960m over the past year.
