Recent AIM issue Metal-Tech, which has the technology to transform scrap and industrial waste into metals with relatively high value applications, could be regarded as a modern day alchemist. The company, which was floated by broker Durlacher on 13 May at a price of 130p a share in a placing which raised £9.4m net new money, has wasted little time in pleasing investors by releasing interim results that were substantially ahead of its broker’s forecasts. Even before that, Metal-Tech had already proven itself to be a company very much on the up, with group sales increasing five-fold to US$59m in the last two years, turning a small loss into a profit of US$8.9m.
