The combination of lucrative tax advantages and the ability to use leverage has seen financial derivatives mushroom into a very substantial industry and with IG being the first to spot this opportunity, it has fully reaped the rewards. In the last four years its turnover has increased from £33.5m to £89m, while pretax profit has nearly quadrupled from £13.3m to £51.1m.
