To untrained eyes Hargreaves Services, whose operations range from bulk haulage to waste services and coking coal mining, might appear to be a relic from the bad old days of empire building conglomerates. However, such an observation is well wide of the mark. The simple truth is that Hargreaves is a classic case of the whole exceeding the sum of the parts with each piece of the jigsaw providing substantial benefits in terms of cost saving synergies and cross-selling opportunities for the other parts of the business.
