Shares in engineering firm Goodwin have now rocketed 385p since we made them a front-page write-up at 790p two months ago. The catalyst was an outstanding set of full year results for the year to 30 April with pretax profit rising 40% to £9.8m on turnover that increased 22% to £80.6m. Our bold back of an envelope prediction for eps to soar to between 90p and 100p in the current year came true, except one year early! Eps rose 40% to 91.1p. Meanwhile, net debt of £2.1m was turned into a small net cash position.Goodwin, which makes check valves for the oil & gas and process industries and super alloy machine castings to make power stations more efficient, is continuing to enjoy strong growth in its end markets.
