Since late June shares in gold miner Avocet have been on a strong run to hit a new high of 282p. The main driver was a sharp 59% upgrade to gold resources at its Inata mine to 3.36m oz from 2.12m oz. That means that since Avocet acquired its West African assets they have increased resources from 2.36m oz to 5.03m. Earlier Avocet released its Q2 results, which showed production of 62,803 oz at a cash cost of US$802, compared with 71,708 oz at US$678 last time. However, stripping out its south east Asian assets, which have now been sold, its core Inata mine produced 39,423 oz at US$677 down from 47,963 oz at US$533.
