Our buy tip on pawnbrokers H&T three months ago at 311p looks well-timed with the shares hitting a new high of 404p after its interim results triggered more broker upgrades.For the six months to 30 June, underlying pretax profit increased to £10.3m from £9.6m, while eps increased 9% to 21.2p. The core pawn broking side was very strong with the pledge book rising 10.5% to £41.2m, helped by increased lending rates (underpinned by the rising price of gold). The pawn service charge rose 14%, helped by lower redemption rates and led to gross profit from pawn broking up 14% to £13.2m.
