Kentz reported interims significantly ahead of expectations with revenues rising 48% to US$643m and pretax profit increasing 50% to US$37.7m. Eps rose 80% to almost 27 cents, while cash was US$193m. Although the period end order backlog was unchanged at US$1.6bn, the Gorgon LNG contract win since then has increased it to US$2.4bn with work running through to 2015. Management are currently bidding on US$3.24bn worth of contracts for award within 6-12 months.Kentz, which is involved in the erection of accommodation blocks and support infrastructure for new build projects, such as LNG plants, has benefited from buoyant trading amongst its clients on the back of high prices for metals, mining and energy.
