The poor performance of the shares has been rubbished by results, which beat broker forecasts at every level. For the six months to 30 June turnover rose 40% to £112.3m while pretax pre-exceptional profits (excluding a one-off  IPO bonus of £2.3m and the reversal of a £3.8m provision on a contract) rose 52% to £8.5m. Arbuthnot's forecasts were turnover of £90m and profit of just £5.6m. Basic eps rose 220% to 12p, while net cash was a healthy £7.2m. A maiden interim dividend of 4.4p also brings cheer.The revenue increase principally reflects the commencement of work on the major Styldrift project together with a number of smaller projects and project extensions.
