In spite of headwinds from the wet summer and the economy restaurant operator Prezzo's interims showed progress. For the six months to 1 July revenues rose 14% to £68.1m, while pretax profit increased 4% to £7.6m. Eps rose 11% to 2.43p, helped by lower tax charge of 26% (2011: 30%). Prezzo opened 12 (H1 2011: 7) new restaurants and with a further three already open in H2 it now has 193, compared with 168 at the same stage a year ago. These openings include the first at a transport hub, the main concourse at Kings Cross railway station, together with the South East (Cobham, Arundel, Sevenoaks) and North West (Southport and New Brighton on the Wirral).
