Shares in the specialty chemicals firm at one point climbed to 166p, a post-pandemic high, in response to interim results that were ahead of expectations. Revenues rose 5% to US$383m while operating profit increased 24% to US$65m. Operating margin spiked from 14.4% to 17%, while net debt fell 3% to US$196m (1.3x net debt / EBITDA).  The largest business, Coatings, a high tech additive that controls and changes a liquid’s viscosity and thickness with applications such as painting on walls, ships or new cars, grew sales 10% to almost US$200m.
