More disappointing news from Character was sugared slightly by a cluster of share purchases from directors, totting up to 114,000 sharesat prices between 49p and 54p. Character's digital division isstruggling as although its Polaroid sales have been good outside ofthe US, sales within the US were hit by its former distributor,Uniden's, sudden withdrawl from the market.  Uniden'sreplacement, Petter, came too late to prevent Character's Polaroidsales going to its rivals and this has also led to a US$1m write-downon stock originally contracted to Uniden.   Sales of Character'sown higher margin brand, Cool-i-cam,  also disappointed,reflecting delays in bringing product to market.
