Shares in accountancy and professional advisory group Vantis have moved up nicely since last month’s recommendation. Its final results certainly cheered investors with turnover being up 59% to £37.7m, pretax profit increasing 44% to £6.9m and earnings rising 25% to 12.1p. However, the main reason for the re-rating has been the growing realisation that the recent acquisition of larger rival Numerica, for £3.7m plus Numerica’s borrowings of £7.5m, for a business turning over c. £30m, was a stunning deal.
