Shares in Venture Production jumped more than 50p the day it announced the Eu 224m (£153.2m) acquisition of CH4 Energy, a privately owned, UK-based gas production company. The consideration consisted of Eu 123.5m cash, plus 9.05m Venture shares. CH4’s assets are concentrated around the UK/Dutch median line in the Southern North Sea and are dominated by its operated interests in the producing Markham gas field (37.5% interest) and the Chiswick gas field (95% interest), which is under development, with its first well expected on stream in Q1 next year.
