Final results from spread betting firm IG continue to justify the recent strong share price performance, with the latest high taking our gains over 50%. For the year ended 31 May, turnover rose 36% to £122m while pretax profit increased 35% to £69m. Earnings rose 33% to 14.5p. IG’s largest activity, financial spread betting, which allows punters to bet on everything from shares and equity indices to commodities and foreign exchange, increased 22% to nearly £69m with average monthly transactions up 36% over last year.
