Very large oil & gas discoveries have been hard to come by recently, but back in July shares in Tullow Oil (FT sector: Oil & Gas) soared on the announcement of a major oil discovery in Ghana with early estimates pointing to reserves of between 300m-600m barrels of oil. This discovery crowns what has been a remarkable few years for Tullow, which has been transformed from a poorly resourced minnow to a company knocking on the door of the FTSE-100.
