The headline grabber at building firm Rok's interim results was its shock decision to close down its property development arm, after its slide into losses. In the six months to 30 June Rok showed a 37% rise in turnover to £547m with pretax profit increasing 22% to £12.4m. Eps increased 20% to 4.9p. Net debt rose from £5.3m to £16.7m but remains well within its £100m facility.Helped by its focus on social housing as well as the acquisition of smaller rival Richardson Projects, the core building division, which operates from a network of 60 local offices across the country, increased revenues 26% to £288m.
